A Great Day at the Beach: 2013 New Beach Series

Now that the holidays are over, winter has sent in, I start to feel eager for Spring. Since it's a new year I decided it's time for a new series of abstract paintings.  Here's is the first one. Hope this brightens your day wherever you are. 

Mentioning what another artist said about this painting having color, texture, and simplicity, that was the original intention of this painting. I start by putting down a layer of color with texture. Then after that dries, I add other colors on top with a palette knife (the fun part) and take away some of the paint here and there with a rag to see what surprises of color may pop up (another fun part).
